Khao Kheow Country Club is about halfway between Bangkok and Pattaya, just off the main highway and is an ideal course for those who wish to play golf in Pattaya soon after arrival or a final game on the way to the airport. Like many golf courses in Pattaya, Khao Kheow Country Club sits in a picturesque valley between two hills. It’s quite a long course with some significant elevation changes between holes which makes for a welcome change from some of the flatter golf courses in the surrounding area.

As can be expected from a Pete Dye design, accurate shot making is essential to master not only the blustery conditions but also to avoid the numerous large water hazards, bunkers, and mounds that fringe the fairways. Greens are pretty small with plenty of bumps and hollows which makes accurate putting a must if you are to score well.

With a choice of three nine-hole layouts to choose from (A, B and C), there is plenty of excitement and many excellent golf holes to be negotiated. Each of the nines has a hole which can really ruin your card.  Lying in wait on the A Course is the par-4 7th and as you survey the hole from the tee box you will see water running all the way along the hole from tee-to-green and the fairway beyond if looks smaller every time you look at it.

The B Course features the hole that everyone talks about and must be on of the most photographed holes in Thailand.  You play form an elevated tee box to an island green framed by the surrounding water and the hills in the background – very satisfying if you can make the putting surface.

If you have time, we suggest you play all 27 holes and then you can truly experience the variety of this golf course.  The clubhouse has seen better days but the upstairs restaurant which overlooks the B Course serves some excellent food and panty of cold beer.

Overall Khao Kheow is another great value gold course which is well maintained and managed and for those who like to walk carts are not compulsory

This golf course is very accessible both from Bangkok and Pattaya so it can get very busy at the weekends and on public holidays so much better to play midweek when you should have the courses to yourself.

Khao Kheow Country Club

Good resort course but a little frayed at the edges

Reviewed by ; on
This is a perfect course to play on the way to or from the airport as its half way between Suvarnabhumi and Pattaya. The course is in reasonable condition although the fairways were quite patchy and looked very dry in places. The greens were fine and were medium-paced. After a while each hole looked very similar being a slight dog-leg right or left although the signature hole, the 8th on Courses B with its island green, is very picturesque. The clubhouse is a bit old but the restaurant serves very reasonable food. We had great caddies - university students working in their holidays and they were very good and great fun.

Khao Kheow Country Club

"One of the best managed golf courses in Pattaya"

Reviewed by ; on
This club has had some problem in the past but they seem to have got their act together and it is a very well managed course. The greens are superb – very fast and it was wonderful to putt on them. They manage the rotation on the course very well and even on busy days you usually tee off at the appointed time. Everything in the clubhouse works well from the reception in the pro-shop, the locker room and the restaurant.

"Really nice course"

Reviewed by ; on
We played as part of a big group and we had great fun at this lovely course surrounded by hills. The courses ws in good shape and greens were running true despite heavy rain the day before and they got faster as the sun dried them out. The caddies were very good and knew the course well. Nice restaurant with views over the course. One of the best courses we played during our trip.

"Much better than expected"

Reviewed by ; on
We got a very attractive price to play this course so our expectations were not high and we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the course. I would go so far as to rate it third in Pattaya after the Siam Country Club Courses and Laem Chabang. Actually not too far behind and the price differential is considerable making Khao Kheow superb value. The greens and fairways were in great shape and the caddies helpful and great fun. Very scenic course surrounded by hills so great views as you make your way around. It’s an ideal courses to play on arrival or departure as it’s on the way to Bangkok just off the main highway.
