Greenwood Golf Club
About
A very picturesque and mature 27-hole parkland course featuring plenty of sand
Winding through rolling hills of verdant fauna, mature trees and extensive landscaping, Greenwood Golf Club is a scenic 27-hole golf course whose deep sand traps and man-made elevation changes provide a satisfying challenge for golfers of all abilities.
In contrast to most courses in Pattaya, water doesn't play a huge part, featyring on only two or three holes of each nine, notably on the short par-4 5th of Course A, where anything left will get wet. Instead, designed Pater Thompson protects the course with numerous sand traps, some of which are intimidatingly deep. You'll do especially well to avoid sand on the corner of the dog-leg right par-4 3rd or from the tee of the short par-3 6th.
Course B likewise features a smattering of water designed to capture those pulling to the left, notably on the 1st and 4th, while you should also watch out for the streams that cut across the fairway of the long par-4 7th. But it's the pot bunkers and tricky rough that you really need to watch out for.
Courses B and C feature plenty of fairway undulations, offering a links-style feel to what is essentially a parkland course, and even the straightest of drives can kick one way or the other towards danger. This is a thinking man's course that climaxes with possibly the hardest hole of all, a long par-4 that dog-legs around a lake lined with a very long bunker. It's hard to resist the temptation to go for it off the tee, even though a conservative approach is more likely to pay dividends.
The renovated clubhouse has modern changing facilities and an excellent restaurant serving good food and cold beer, while offering great views over the course. Overall, it's a great choice for any Pattaya golf holiday.
Reviews
Terrible
I’m not one for giving bad reviews but this one I have to write. The course and facilities are in very poor condition. I’ve played a lot of different courses in Thailand and this is by far the worst one so far. Tee boxes are very bad. Fairways have no grass on them all weeds. It looks like they over water the course so areas are very soft and you get a lot of mud on you walking about. Clubhouse is run down and the whole approach to the club looks like something that has been through a hurricane, mess everywhere. The whole facility needs a make over as the course layout is good but I would avoid this course and pick somewhere else. If you are staying in Pattaya it’s 1 hour drive so definitely not worth it.Good course, lovely experienced caddie. Good value for the money
Generally well designed course, a little wet in places just off the fairways. The greens are reasonably quick, although given the right caddie they help. The pace of play was relatively quick. I managed to get around in 3 hours playing by myself. The cost overall after tipping my caddie was just over 2000 baht that was very reasonable. The staff are friendly & food & the cold beer went down a treat.Great experience for the price
For being a cheaper course, it was a great value. I would easily want to play here again. The people working at Greenwood is polite and service minded. They want you to have a great time there, and it shows. The course was all in all OK. The fairways are good, the scenery and the look of the holes are good, but the greens when we played were like concrete. Among the fastest greens I have ever played, and not receptive AT ALL. You have to land before the green and try to guess how far the ball will roll before it stops. If you land on the green, the ball goes off the back. If you are going to try a few different courses in Pattaya, I would reccommend this one if you want to try one of the more "value for money" courses. All in all good experience, but the greens needs some work :)Course Info
