Eastern Star, located around 45 minutes from Pattaya is a rare Robert Trent Jones Jr. design and one of only five in Thailand that he has been involved in.  This links-style course is probably one of the better 2nd-tier golf courses in Pattaya and was originally conceived as a residential estate and sits on a very attractive site of more than 500 acres that make up Eastern Star Country Club & Resort.

The course is quite forgiving with wide open fairways lined by numerous palm trees and with its very attractive green fees it has become a popular course with locals and visitors. Despite the gently undulating fairways and forgiving greens you will have to negotiate your way around and sometimes over 65 bunkers, 11 water hazards and thousands of coconut palms. The Eastern Star golf resort is not that far from the coast so you will often feel the onshore breeze which adds even more to the Links-like feel of the course. conveniently situated just 2 kilometres from the sea ensuring a constant cooling breeze.

Eastern Star has, over they years, hosted a number of local and regional golf events so it still offers plenty of challenges for even the best golfers – especially from the back tees. At the same time beginners and low handicappers will have an enjoyable day Having said this, the course requires careful management to negotiate successfully as there are a number of dogleg holes and carefully positioned hazards that can trap you if you are not careful.

From championship blue tees the golf course can be quite a handle as it plays quite long. The signature hole is the very pretty par-3 13th hole which demands an accurate tee shot over water whilst at the same time avoiding the deep bunker lying in wait to the left of the green.  Don’t over club because the green slopes from back to front and its very fast coming back down the hill.

This course is excellent value for money – usually in god condition and equally suited to beginners and experienced golfers alike. There is a short-game practice area, driving range, and the facilities in the clubhouse perfectly adequate if unspectacular.

Our customers reviews of Eastern Star Country Club

Eastern Star Country Club

An attractive and mature course which is fun to play but slightly let down by poor maintenance

Reviewed by ; on
Coconut palms line most fairways and, together with numerous bunkers and the occasional water hazard, you do need to plot your way around to score well. There were too many weeds on the fairways, but the greens were firm, fast and true. The course is quite long, especially from the white tees, and unless you are a very long hitter, it is tough to reach the greens in regulation. Caddies were OK with some English.

Nice layout, bad condition

Reviewed by ; on
Layout and scenery is very nice, fairways were mostly brownish and hard underneath, only patches of green, very difficult to get under the ball and to get elevation, greens were more sand than green, horrible.
