The 27-hole Crystal Bay Golf Resort course is one of the older golf courses in Pattaya and was originally designed by Thai Takenaka.  IT has actually been open since 1988 and has changed its name several times before settling on Crystal Bay Golf Resort.

The golf course is around 45 minutes from Pattaya and 1.5 hours from Bangkok and is often described has having a distinctly ‘Hawaiian’ vibe with many of the holes being fringed by palm trees.

This Pattaya golf course is a 2nd tier course and is a reasonably easy and uncomplicated 27-hole layout consisting of three nine-hole layouts – each with their own very distinct characteristics with different elevation changes and types of hazards. The layout is a mixture of the classic parkland fairways with an occasional links-type hole thrown in. Water hazards are plentiful and often border the fairways although some of them block the route to the green and will require a water carry to reach the green. Many of the greens are also protected by bunkers so accurate iron play and courses management is essential.

The pick of the holes is the 3rd which is a par-4 dogleg and par-3 8th which features an island green which makes the tee shot particularly daunting.  Many of the waterways are not really hazards but do add to the beauty of the course.  Being a relatively easy courses most golfers should be able to play to their handicap and even land a birdie or two.

The clubhouse needs renovating and the locker rooms are very old – also the maintenance at the course is not up to standard, and the golf course conditions vary through the year, so we suggest you check with us before playing.  The food in the clubhouse is adequate and there is plenty of cold beer to enjoy after your round.

"Course in good condition but clubhouse needs a makeover"

This is a good layout and the course itself is in reasonable condition but everything else is in need of a makeover. Good value for money.

"Enjoyable golf round – good course"

Reviewed by ; on
This course is fun to play – not only for single handicapper but also for average golfers. Fairways are pretty generous but most holes require careful course planning in order to get in the right position for your approach. When we played the greens were pretty slow compared to other courses in the area. Overall not too difficult and ideal for a relaxing round of golf. Caddies were fine – pleasant and helpful. Clubhouse is very old and restaurant was pretty bad as well.

"Excellent value and good golfing"

Reviewed by ; on
A club that is slowly recovering from a difficult period and things are improving. No complaints about the course which is in good condition and he caddies are very helpful. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the management which seems very poor. We turned up on time for our booked tee time and found several groups waiting to tee off in front of us – we asked if we could start on the 10th but were told that everyone had to start form the 1st tee. As a result the front nine was very slow and we were waiting all the way round and we were not looking forward to the back nine. The caddies suggested we replay the front nine which by that time was completely clear. We played our second nine at normal pace and managed to complete 18 holes before dark. By the time we got back the locker room staff were sleeping which just about sums up the service you can expect at this club.

“Nice course but nothing special”

Quite a nice golf course not far from Pattaya. Slightly spoilt by the Bermuda grass that has invaded much of the fairway which require some getting used to and lead to some frustrating mishits.
