A hidden gem in the mountains of Khao Soi Dao that's well worth the trip from Pattaya
Far from the beaten track in a scenic area blessed with excellent, temperate weather, Chatrium Golf Resort Soi Dao Chanthaburi offers 18 holes that meander through a relaxing, natural environment of forests, creeks and lakes. Despite the surrounding terrain, the course itself is fairly flat, although with water in play on half the holes and a smattering of bunkers, it's no walk in the park.
After a couple of sedate, picturesque par-4s, the 206-yard signature par-3 3rd memorably plays over a large, imposing lake to a green guarded on both sides by sand. It's worth overclubbing just in case, as anything long and straight should be safe.
The 6th and 7th, both par-4, each require a tricky approach over water to a narrow target, while the long par-4 that rounds off the front nine is often a struggle to reach in regulation as it typically plays into the wind. Your drive must be both long and straight, as numerous bunkers await down the right hand side and finding them will almost certainly lead to a dropped shot.
While there's less water in play on the back nine, that doesn't mean it's straightforward, with well placed bunkers awaiting lurking just off the 11th and 13th greens, and in the middle of the fairway at the par-4 14th.
Water is back in play on 15th and 16th, the former a long par-5 with a tricky approach and the latter a short par-3 to a very pretty island green. The forgiving, dual fairways of the par-4 17th mean you can really open your shoulders off the tee, before the round wraps up with the easiest hole on the course, a shortish par-5 that should offer up the chance to finish your round on a high.
Away from the course itself, there are extensive practice facilities, including a driving range and two greens for chipping and putting, while the on-site resort is a good choice for those looking to stay overnight stay rather than drive the 2 hours back to Bangkok or Hua Hin.
Despite its remote location, a trip to the excellent Chatrium Golf Resort Soi Dao Chanthaburi is well worth the drive for those looking to get away from the crowded resort courses in Pattaya and Bangkok.

Ok renewed my feelings about thai golf
What a gem and worth the 2.5 hour drive from Pattaya. Played firm not the normal thai soaked fairways. Fairways 5 approach they were doing a little work but excellent. Greens firm recepive and fast ran true, give them a 5. Tee excellent, layout 5+ . Only draw back was the driving range great they had one and a practice area, but a group had been there for almost two months and it was thread bare.. still 4. service 5+. food excellent, I staye dover night the lodging was excellent. The two caddies I had were spot on. One was a student his name was F. and Lan the second day both very good. Pace of play I was a single with no rights on the course so I got behind a a few 4 and 5 somes.. but still finished in 4 hours. First day did 27 in 5 hours with cart, second day walked 18 and was reasonable to walk. overall worth the drive and $150 for two rounds and a night at there hotel that was 5++.Great track worth the drive.. spend a day or two

This is an amazing golf course set in the mountains about three hours west of Pattaya. There is a very good hotel attached and its best to stay overnight before returning to Pattaya. There are some really beautiful holes and the course has been wonderfully designed to provide a real challenge. The course is in great condition and there were teams of workers manicuring the course. It was a little waterlogged in the early morning but soon dried out. It is very long and even from the white tees we found it very difficult to reach the greens with our second shots on the par 4's.
