Burapha Golf Club

Holes 18 | Par 72 | Length 6547 m / 7160 y | Type Parkland | Architect David Graham & Gary Panks

Burapha Golf Club is one of the best of the “second tier” golf courses in Pattaya and has hosted several professional tournaments including the 2010 Thailand Open and for several years has hosted the Singha Thailand Championships. It is also the only 36-hole layout in Pattaya and the designers have taken full advantage of the natural features of the beautiful piece of land and have incorporated the many lakes, bumps and hollows as well as the natural vegetation into the layout.

Burapha Golf Club was designed by Gary Panks and David Graham; Burapha Golf Club and is essential set up as four different nines which can be mixed together to provide several different combinations of 18 holes. The East (A-B) combination is probably the easiest with wide fairways and not too many elevation changes and is probably ideal for the higher handicappers. The West (C-D) Course is much more challenging and is probably better suited to low handicappers.

The many elevated tee-boxes give great views of the fairways and beyond – the rough is usually kept quite short although close to the green is can get tricky.  Some of the greens are well protected with bunkers which puts a premium on accurate iron play.

The (D) course or Dunes nine is probably the most exciting especially as you reach the top of the course between the 6th and 7th holes and you get fantastic and uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside and on a clear day you can glimpses of the distant ocean and port.  . The (C) or Crystal nine is much easier and flatter with a mixture of tree-lined fairways interspersed with water hazards and you need to score well here before heading for the Dunes nine.

The Burapha clubhouse is looking a little dated and is in need of renovation but still serves good local and international food in the restaurant. Other facilities include swimming pools, tennis courts, and fitness room. The locker rooms are ok although also could use a makeover.

"Overlooked gem"

Reviewed by ; on
I'm not sure, but I think this course might be an overlooked gem among all the great courses in the area, especially since it is just opposite the road of Laem Chabang which is one of the more populars courses in the region. The clubhouse wouldn't mind a little refurb. This venue features 36 holes divided into A,B, C and D slopes. I played the A and B slope. A great layout with different options on every single hole . Lots of elevated tees overlooking scenic golf holes. The overall condition is very good, the fairways was a touch soft as expected due to heavy rain last night. Superfast and receptive greens makes putting a true joy. The rough plays tough, so plan your shots wisely. I think this golf course suits all levels of ability very well. What impressed me the most was the pace of play. I had three 4-ball in front of me and I was expecting a very slow round, but we finished in about 3,5 hours. Hats off to the Marshals and caddies for making sure the pace of play was up to par! I had a perfect golf experience at Burapha, I'm sure you will as well.

"A good and interesting course"

A good course which is also quite challenging – especially the D course which is links-style and has hosted some pro events. C is also good but A & B are a little shorter and better for higher handicappers.

"Great layout - average condition"

Reviewed by ; on
We played on a sports day which made it quite cheap. We found the condition of the course average as we have played better and cheaper ones. Three are four different nines but we were not offered a choice as to which we wanted to play. We enjoyed playing here.
